Space & Forest Lasers
Meet GEDI, the laser that soars above Earth at 17,150 miles per hour onboard the International Space Station (ISS). GEDI has advanced laser technology that reveals the makeup of remote forest ecosystems around the globe. It measures the height of leaves, branches, trees, and shrubs to help scientists map the structure of forests and better understand how ecosystems are storing or releasing carbon. Sounds pretty cool right? This is just the beginning of the GEDI impact on Earth.
