There are currently around 1.5 billion people in the world who do not have access to clean energy. Additionally, there are another 1.5 billion individuals who either have intermittent access to electricity or cannot afford to be connected to the grid. This is what is referred to as energy poverty, which describes the situation of people living without access to a reliable and safe source of electricity. Kerosene lamps are the most commonly used solution in these areas, but they are dangerous, toxic, and expensive.
