STEM & SDGs with Science & Humanities: How to get hands on and integrate the SDGs

Tia Luker-Putra

To create future leaders, students need to evolve their ability to think critically and systematically. One way is by applying the engineering process and using STEM solutions to address the SDGs in classrooms. This lens empowers students to develop their empathy towards others, their understanding of self, and their roles as global citizens. Students can creatively work within their interests with a carefully (and easily!) designed, cross-curricular and inquiry-based learning plan that still meets standard curriculum goals. This approach motivates students to see themselves as global changemakers and influencers, as sharing their work locally, or even globally, is the goal. It also generates significant opportunities for both teachers and students to walk the learning path together through meaningful exchanges while addressing the most critical issues that face our world today.
